Sucker Punch Productions has produced two PlayStation exclusive games that are worth checking out — Sly Cooper and inFAMOUS.

The Sly Collection is Better with Digital

Sucker Punch’s first well-known series was the Sly Cooper series. The main character is the infamous Sly Cooper, the only remaining thief of the Cooper clan, followed by his two friends Bentley and Murray, as they take down other well-known thieves while avoiding Inspector Carmelita Fox (the main “rival” of Sly).

The series originally consisted of three main games: Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Sly 2: Band of Thieves, and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves. The games were originally released for the PlayStation 2 and got so popular, they combined the three titles into the Sly Collection and released it for the PlayStation 3 in 2010, and the PlayStation Vita in 2014. The games come with new and remastered graphics while following the original storyline.

Is the collection truly worth buying? It depends on how the customer is going to buy it. It isn’t worth buying a physical copy because the third game, Sly 3, requires gamers to enter a code for it. However, all codes expired two years after its release date. The digital copy is  worth buying for two reasons. The game does include all three fully remastered games and is only $15 versus $24 for the physical copy. while it only costs fifteen dollars on the PlayStation Store. The downside is it kills the memory card’s space dramatically. Overall, the game is truly worth buying. Three games for the price of one is truly worth it.

inFAMOUS is LIT!

After the success of the Sly Cooper series, Sucker Punch went on to create a new series for the PlayStation 3 called inFAMOUS, which provides a gamer an intriguing narrative to provide hours of fun.

The main character of the first and second games is Cole MacGrath. He was once a bike courier, simply delivering packages. Then one day, a package found him. Inside was a device called the Ray Sphere. Not knowing what it was or what it did, Cole detonated the Ray Sphere, causing a massive explosion that killed thousands of people…except himself. Cole was only knocked unconscious by the blast, and woke up with superhuman powers; the most notable of which is electrokinesis. Now, Cole must find out where the Ray Sphere came from, fix the problems he caused by detonating it, and deal with more superhumans like himself along the way.

The gameplay is a mix of action-adventure, open world, platforming, and third-person shooting. It also includes a karma system, meaning good actions (such as rescuing civilians and restraining enemies instead of killing everyone) will make Cole’s electricity blue, and unlock new abilities that are unavailable if one were to take the evil route. The evil route will make Cole’s electricity red, and give access to a different set of electrical powers.

The gameplay is definitely the best part of the series. The player feels extremely powerful and unstoppable with the amount of powers there is to unlock. Players also have the ability to scale the sides of nearly any building or structure with ease.

With smooth and unique gameplay, an intriguing storyline, and a bad@$$ protagonist, Sucker Punch has created one heck of a masterpiece.
