It’s hard to believe that Valentine’s Day is this Friday! BASH will be closed to students due to a staff in service day! Whether you’re looking for something to do with your significant other, yourself, or your family, there’s no lack of things to do in celebration of love, friendship, and admiration.
If you’re into dancing, head to the Sunnybrook road in Pottstown. They will be hosting a “Valentine’s Day Dance with AM RADIO.” The event will feature a live band that highlights “The Ultimate 60s and 70s Experience.” Doors will open at 6pm, and the band will start playing at 7pm and continue until 10pm. Tickets are currently on sale online for $15 dollars or they can be purchased at the door for $20 dollars.
If you’re looking for a formal meal, look no further then El Jefe Cantina, a Mexican restaurant in Norristown. The event descriptions says, “Join us at El Jefe Cantina for a night filled with romance, laughter, and good vibes. Whether you’re spending the evening with your significant other or your best pals, this event is the perfect way to show your love and appreciation.” The event will last from 6pm through 10pm this Friday. Directions to the cafe can be found here.
BASH’s Perspective
BASH students have a lot of different ideas for how they’re planning on spending Valentines day. Many of them are hoping to receive flowers and chocolate from their significant other. Gormah Koryon, a freshmen, said “I want chocolate, flowers, and a teddy bear for Valentines Day.”
Other students have more specialized hopes for their Valentines Day. Tinuoluwa Ponle-Atilade, a senior, said, “I really love geology and I’d like rocks and crystals [for Valentines Day]. Dried herbs, specifically dried lavender and rosemary, would also be romantic because that means my partner thought of me and what I like.”
Echoing the sentiment of many of her fellow students: Ahna Hart, a junior, plans to spend her Valentines Day taking care of herself, saying, “I will be doing my nails for myself. I don’t need a significant other.”
Outside of gifts, many students have made plans with their significant others. Emily Mack, a junior, is going to a cafe. She said, “My boyfriend and I are going out to a cafe in Skippack.” She got him a plethora of gifts and she’s excited to give them to him.
Travel is also on the agenda this Valentines Day. Hannah Ponoyer, a senior at BASH, is traveling to Jamaica with her family. “I’m going to Jamaica and swimming in the ocean. I’m going with my mom and two cousins, aunt/uncle, and grandparents. I’m looking forward to the all inclusive buffet. It’s going to be an exciting five days!”
We hope that Boyertown has a fun and safe Valentines Day, especially with the day off.
