As of the 2025-2026 school year, BASH has introduced Artificial Intelligence (AI) into the schools curriculum. The type of AI that BASH is using is called Magic School.
Magic School is supposed to be used as a tool to help build ideas and gather information for students schoolwork. This technology was introduced at the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year and has been used in several classrooms here at BASH. This also includes a chart that teachers are using on how much AI they’re allowing that period.
AI is not only being integrated into the classrooms of Boyertown Area School District but many other schools as well. High schools such as the School District of Philadelphia, West Chester School district, Mechanicsburg Area School District, and many more are integrating AI to teach students how to responsibly utilize it as a tool.
AI is also being introduced to colleges not only a tool but also a new degree called AI engineering. Many colleges such as Ivy league school, University of Pennsylvania, Penn State University, and Carnegie Mellon University, all have undergraduate AI engineering degrees.
Why Schools are Introducing AI
On Monday, October 6th, 2025, there was a joint public hearing about AI in education and work force development. This launched a few programs such as and undergraduate in AI, an AI endorsement pathway (For K-12 teachers), AI tech ambassadors (Students trained to teach peers and community members), and AI forward (Training with ethical guardrails). This was all put in place for schools statewide to educate students on AI literacy and how to use AI responsibly. As AI begins to reshape the world, education systems are ensuring that students utilize this tool safely and responsibly.
How it works
Magic school AI is not meant to be used to create essays or projects for students, rather, it is supposed to be used as a fact checker. Teachers are able to make classrooms with their AI where there are limitations on that the AI can do. Teachers are also able to see what students ask of the AI. Certain classes don’t allow AI. Most of the higher level English classes at BASH don’t allow AI at all on their classwork and heavily utilize AI checkers to ensure full integrity. Teachers will always establish when students will be allowed to use AI.
