On Wednesday April 23rd, 2025, the Berks County Department of Agriculture will hold an open house with the Berks County Agriculture Center (BCAC). The event will feature opportunities to learn about careers from local to federal levels in Agriculture.
Adults and students alike are invited to attend the open house, with the BCAC saying it’s a great opportunity to, “evaluate the various levels of service available for agricultural operations to determine which programs can provide benefits for specific situations.”
The event will be held from 8:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. Between 9:30am and 11:30am, there will be guest speakers from different agricultural organizations who will be giving more formal presentations in the new agricultural center building. Otherwise, the first floor auditorium will have a variety of exhibits showing different ways people can get involved with agriculture programs.
As part of an email sent out to BASH staff the BCAC had a list of topics of discussion which include, “USDA Farm Service Agency programs, NRCS programs, Penn State Extension various topics, [and] Conservation District programs.” The email asked that any questions regarding the event be directed to the following people: Nakku Senkeeto, USDA Farm Service Agency, at 610-478-7158, Nicholas Ramsey, USDA NRCS at 610-4787158, Dean Druckenmiller, Conservation District at 610-372-4657, Kim Fies, Berks County Department of Agriculture at 610-378-1844, Alesse Coover, Penn State Extension at 610-378-1327.
