In the class of 2026, there will be five hundred and four students graduating from BASH. Ryan Christiansen stands out among them for his hard work and dedication to many of BASH’s programs.
Working for the Cub for the last two years, Ryan has published about 20 articles, mainly focusing on sports, but also venturing out of his comfort zone and writing pop culture pieces like his articles on the late Jesse Jackson and Chuck Norris. As well as being in the Cub, Ryan has also spent the last year as part of FBLA, where he helps with the annual rose and Hershey kiss sales, along with participating in the sales pitch competition, where he placed fourth with two of his classmates.
Ryan started attending Boyertown schools in the fifth grade, after growing up in Philadelphia before moving to California for a short time and finally settling down in Gilbertsville. Ryan attended Gilbertsville Elementary School. Then he attended both Middle School West and East, before finally going to BASH for high school.
When Ryan was young, growing up in Philadelphia, he was always enamored by sports. Ryan ended up beginning to commentate and write about sports after getting the idea to become a sports commentator from his parents, who noticed him repeatedly talking over the TV while watching games during middle school.
Ryan is committed to Penn State and will major in communications. Ryan hopes to eventually achieve his dream job of being a sports commentator.
Looking back at his time at BASH, Ryan highlights Mrs. DiBlasi for Honors English in 11th grade as one of his favorite teachers: “She was just really nice and always made class interesting; she didn’t give many tests and instead had us working on projects while working with friends.”
“I also thank Mrs. Miller, who I had for DE Macroeconomics and DE Microeconomics in 11th and 12th grade. She was always someone I felt like I could talk to, and I enjoyed being in her homeroom for FBLA.”
Ryan also fondly remembers the senior class trip and says it was one of his highlights of High School.

As a member of the Cub, some of Ryan’s favorite articles include all of his football reviews and the senior spotlight article that he wrote about his friend: “It’s always a joy to me to write about football. I mean, it’s my passion, I could spend an entire day writing about the Eagles and any other football team.” Ryan also added, “I also enjoyed writing the senior spotlight article because I enjoyed the process of interviewing one of my closest friends and highlighting all of his accomplishments.”
As Ryan prepares to leave Boyertown behind him, he has a few things he hopes to leave for future students: “Be respectful and kind to all your peers, and enjoy your time in high school while you have it, because it goes by way faster than you think it will.”
