Tough Season for Young Tennis Team

A somewhat inexperienced girls’ tennis team finished the season with an overall record of 4-7.

The team, which lost 13 seniors since last year, finished 3-6 in the PAC-10.

“We found ourselves with a very young team,” said Coach and Environmental Sciences Teacher Mrs. Donna Laskosky. “The girls had very little experience but put forth a lot of effort to listen and learn skills that will get better over time.”

The team’s toughest loss was to Pope John Paul High School 3-4 on Senior Night.

“The match was a very close one and was a tough way to end our season,” Laskosky said.

Senior Captains Amanda Loar and Sarah Bouffard did an outstanding job stepping up to the top two singles positions she said. “It was tough since they loved playing doubles the last three seasons.”

Going forward, the team will work on skills development, court placement, plus dedication to the sport in general, Laskosky said. “We’ll be able rebuild and become competitive again in the PAC-10 in the seasons to come.”

The coach wishes her seniors well and encourages her underclassmen to get out and work hard during the off season. “Play! Play! Play!” she said.
