The NFC Championship Game took place between the Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams this past Sunday, and it was a war. Both teams put their hearts into this game, and it was evident in their performances.
The game started off hot, with the Seahawks getting on the board first with a Kenneth Walker rushing touchdown. On the next drive, the Rams drove down the field and hit a 44-yard field goal to get on the board. Towards the end of the quarter, the Seahawks made a field goal of their own from 27 yards to go up 10-3.
In the second quarter, the Rams managed to hit another field goal, and then a touchdown from a Matthew Stafford pass to Kyren Williams to take the lead 13-10. In two-minute drill mode, the Seahawks managed to answer right back with a 14-yard touchdown pass by Sam Darnold to Jaxon Smith-Njigba to retake the lead at halftime, 17-13.
The third quarter started with another touchdown for the Seahawks, as Darnold threw a 17-yard pass to Jake Bobo. Seattle went up by 11, until Los Angeles answered back with a touchdown catch by Davante Adams from two yards out to cut the lead down to four. Then late in the third quarter, Seattle scored another touchdown with a touchdown pass to former Ram and Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp from 13 yards out. To cap off the intense third quarter, the Rams scored another touchdown, this time OPOY front-runner Puka Nacua securing the catch from 34 yards. Seattle still leads by four, 31-27.
In the fourth, it was a good showing by both defenses to limit the offense. The Rams did manage to drive down the field, but failed a fourth-down conversion with around five minutes left in the game and came away with no points. Seattle had a good offensive drive, got LA to use all three of their timeouts, and gave the ball back to the Rams with only 25 seconds remaining. After two plays, Stafford threw a pass to Puka Nacua, and he was tackled in bounds to keep the clock running, and the Rams couldn’t spike the ball in time. Seattle won 31-27.
This is the fourth time in franchise history that the Seahawks will be in the Super Bowl, with the last appearance being in 2014, where they coincidentally played the New England Patriots and lost after the infamous Malcolm Butler interception at the one-yard line. With both teams having a rematch, it should be an exciting game to witness. Seattle is looking for revenge on the Patriots, and the Patriots are looking to start a new dynasty with Drake Maye and Mike Vrabel. The Super Bowl will air this Sunday, February 8th, at 6:30 P.M. There will also be an exciting halftime performance by global music icon Bad Bunny.
