As the school year comes to a close, the Cub says goodbye to Martin Herold, a 1 year correspondent. Throughout his time at BASH, Martin has been involved with Esports, the Cub, journalism, and a plethora of history classes.
Martin has been involved with Esports for 2 years, since the club’s inception. He is on the Division 2 Overwatch 2 team, Division 1 League of Legends, and Division 1 Marvel Rivals. He meets there 3 times a week with his teammates to practice and compete with other schools in Pennsylvania. He joined Esports as a junior because he liked playing video games and thought it would be a great way to improve his skills, collaborate with other students, and work towards a common objective. When talking about his time at Esports, Martin said, “I like League of Legends the best because of the overhead character movements and the different champions and equipment you can buy.” If any student is interested in joining Esports, come to the after school meetings in the Esports Lab, held every Tuesday.
Recently, in an effort to try something new, Martin joined the Cub. He joined because his longtime friend and Co-Editor of the Cub, Ethan Millard encouraged him to join. Martin covers school board meetings for the Cub, writing comprehensive recaps of them, keeping students and staff alike informed on what’s happening with the district. Martin said, “I was looking to improve my writing skills before college. I feel it has improved since my time joining the Cub.”
Looking back at his 4 years at BASH, Martin leaves underclassmen with this message. “Get a job because it looks good on college application and to do your homework, having a bunch of missing work piling up hurts your grade.”
Looking forward into his post-graduation plans, Martin committed to Muhlenberg College in Allentown Pa. He will major in history, with future plans of attending law school. He hopes to hopes to practice civil law.
With all these great accomplishments, the Cub is sad to say goodbye to Martin. However, we are excited to see him prosper in his future endeavors!
