Following the release of their newest album Getting Killed, Brooklyn indie rock band Geese has been getting popular in the rock scene.
Despite its provocative title, Getting Killed is not a violent album, but an experimental indie rock release praised for its musicianship and lyrical intensity. Geese is an indie rock band from Brooklyn, New York, and consists of the members Cameron Winter (vocals), Emily Green (guitar), Max Bassin (drums), and Dominic DiGesu (bass).
When Getting Killed was released on September 26, 2025, it was immediately hailed as a “modern classic.” Northern Transmissions, in a review of Getting Killed, said, “Getting Killed is an instant classic that only a band as nuts as Geese could compose.”
On Getting Killed, the singles were very beloved by fans of Geese. These songs were Trinidad, 100 Horses, and Taxes. A user on albumoftheyear.org said in a review of the song Taxes, “Taxes represents a new step forward for Geese as a band. Even though Projector and 3D Country are superb records, there certainly was a feeling that Geese were still trying to find a sound where they could fit in all their unique influences into one style.”
Many critics also rave about Cameron Winter’s voice. Mojo4music said, “If Winter’s voice may be a tad tart for some tastes – weirdly, part Thom Yorke, part Mick Jagger, with flashes of Van Morrison – there’s no mistaking there’s mercurial brilliance at work here.”
Getting Killed is not only making music critics’ top lists, but it is also making BASH students’ top lists. Daniel Kovach, a Freshman who has been a Geese fan for many years, has Getting Killed at number 3 in his top albums of 2025. “I gave Getting Killed a 10. I really enjoyed this album and kept coming back to it because the songs felt fun, and I really like the way Cameron Winter’s voice sounds.”
Evan Deegan, a Senior, listened to Getting Killed in November and also really enjoyed the album, “Getting Killed is my second favorite album of 2025 and gave it a 9.6 out of 10. To me, the album is already an instant classic of modern indie rock, one that only gets better with each listen. Long Island City is one of the best album closers of the 2020s. I am also performing Cobra on Live Day this year!”
This sudden surge in popularity was also due to Cameron Winter’s solo album, Heavy Metal. The songs $0 and Love Takes Miles were some of the tracks that “blew up” in popularity.
Cameron Winter recently performed at Carnegie Hall in Manhattan, New York, very early on in his career, much like Bob Dylan in the 1960’s. A user on Instagram who attended this performance and follows Cameron Winter and Geese has said that this performance was the birth of an icon.
Geese and Cameron Winter have a great future ahead of them if they keep up the quality of music that they have currently.
Getting Killed can be streamed on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube. Heavy Metal can also be streamed on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube.
