Starting on November 15th and continuing until January 4th, the Winter Light Spectacular at Lehigh Valley Zoo, which has over a 1.2 million lights, was a wonderful experience. BASH cub correspondent, Carter Kenny attended one of these brilliant nights. Families can attend this event for up to two hours.
Arriving at the z00 at around 7pm at night, the whole place was packed, parking had to be controlled with people directing where to go in order to avoid any accidents. The Zoo was bare of any animals most of which were either away for the winter season for their own safety or they were asleep due to the light show being at night. There was a singular animal that was out. A species of owl who was watching the show from its pen among its sleepy feathered.
Following attending one of the nights, Carter Kenny suggests heavily that families give the event a shot if they’re looking for something enjoyable to do over the holiday season. With tickets that aren’t overly expensive and plenty of activities and attractions on the premises: There were several stands offering food and hot chocolate, along with 4$ smore packs that you could roast over a communal fire pit. Beside the pit, a projector was playing several holiday films for families to watch.
The several fixtures across the zoo offered many different sights to be seen over the course of my hour at the zoo. Some of them were strung up on trees, others hung up creating an archway of lights that was a truly beautiful sight to behold.
