Snow Makeup Days Announced

By Amber Schollenberger

BASH seniors were briefed this morning on how snow days will be made up.

The decision was made how to make up for the 10 lost school days last night the BASD school board meeting.

The 2013-2014 school year’s schedule already made room for 3 snow days, the administration said, and February 17th already was turned from a vacation day into a school day.

The remaining days will be made up as follows:

-April 21st will be a full school day
-June 3rd and 4th, previously scheduled as half-days, are now extended to be full days.

-June 9th and 10th will be full school days for all students except seniors.

-Seniors will still graduate on June 6th and will have to attend a mandatory May 31st practice as a makeup school day.

-The school is asking the Pennsylvania Department of Education for two Act 80 “exception days”, which Mr. Foley said should be possible because  Boyertown exceeds mandated instructional hours.

– If more snow days occur, the school board has already decided that more days will be tacked on to the end of the year.
