Students Showcase Silly Talents at Mr. Boyertown Competition

Kyle Amoroso was the senior who was crowned Mr. Boyertown at the Mr. Boyertown pageant on Friday night.

The pageant was full of talent and laughs, and was hosted by senior Skyeler O’Brien. The night started off with a group choreographed dance, including all the Mr. Boyertown nominees: Kevin Reigner, Trent Soto, Adam Gilbert, Mason Lucas, Adam Helmer, Kyle Amoroso, Jacob Irvin, Quinn Hair, Jacob Lasher, and Alex Jacobs. The dance was a mashup filled with lots of pop dance hits, such as “One Dance” by Drake.

The senior boys chose a teacher to read a small biography on them while they came out and gave us a little taste of their personality, being funny while we learned about them. For example Adam Gilbert stood dressed as a cheerleader while Mr. Pennington told about his life.

The nominees all had a talent that they performed — some were funny like Jake and Adam’s magic act, as well as Trent’s lip sync and dance performance of “Single Ladies” by Beyonce, and some were serious like Quinn and Kyle’s separate singing performances.

As well as entertaining performances, the nominees also had small clips that were shown in between segments of the show. The clips contained a senior boy and telling his “secret”, as well as a small montage showing us a glimpse of the boys and their secrets.  Jacob Lasher, for instance, said he was the hash-slinging slasher from SpongeBob.

The guys also raised money during the show by running around the audience with containers, trying to get as much money as they could in one minute. In that minute they raised about $600, said Student Council Advisor and Social Studies Teacher Mr. Jeff Kusniez. In all, including ticket sales and fundraising from the boys, the pageant raised over $3,250 and that will be donated to the Four Diamonds Fund.

After the intermission, each nominee got dressed up in a suit and escorted girls wearing beautiful gowns. Then, each boy got asked a random interview question by Skyeler that they had to answer.

After the formal segment of the show, the guys all went on stage to compete in a lip sync battle, with song ranging from Disney’s “Colors of the Wind” to “Kung Fu Fighting” and “Crazy Train”.

Once this battle was over, the judges left the room to tally up their scores and came back to crown the winner, Kyle Amoroso.
