The weather is finally turning colder and Halloween is only a few weeks away, making it a great time to get out and really get the shivers by visiting a haunted house. The area is filled with good ones that will scare you silly. Here are a few top picks, based on interviews with students:
1. Pennhurst
Located in Spring City, PA, Pennhurst was reopened as a haunted attraction after shutting down in 1987. It is a haunted hospital concept based on the patients from when the hospital was still running.
2. Reaper’s Revenge
These 60 acres of land include four different attractions: a haunted hayride, a walk through a dark forest, an indoor walkthrough, and a zombie maze. Reaper’s Revenge is located in Scranton, PA.
3. Field of Screams
Named “Best Extreme Haunted Attraction” by USA Today, this Mountville, PA, Field of Screams boasts two haunted houses, a haunted hayride, and many other activities.
4. Shocktoberfest
Outside of Reading in Sinking Spring, PA, Shocktoberfest has unique attractions like a zombie paintball hayride and a zombie safari hayride.
5. Bates Motel
Bates Motel offers escape rooms as well as a 25-minute hayride through an insane asylum, a cave, a creepy forest, and a New England Church.
