Starting out strongly BASH’s varsity swim teams (both boys and girls) had their first swim meet of the season against Methacton High School. The competition had seats packed, with students and parents cheering on both sides for their teams. The competition started at 3:30pm.
The meet area had 8 total lanes although only 5 lanes were used at a time. The meet consisted of a total of 24 events, including Butterfly stroke, Breaststroke, Backstroke, and many more. Each event lasted for about 5-15 minutes and had swimmers swim from one end of the area to the other and back. After they made it back, swimmers would swap with other members of the team. Swimmers who’d already participated sat on the side and cheered their teammates along proudly.
The boys teams had an unfortunate loss with Methacton scoring 99 and BASH scoring 57, but the girls team was able to win their match winning 91 to 74. While the girls team celebrated the win, the boys team was just as enthusiastic. They remained undeterred by their defeat and will continue trying their best the whole season.
We’re all excited for an amazing season looking forward, and wish all the best to our swimmers. For anyone interested in attending more meets the team’s schedule can be found here.
