Senior Spotlight; James Oke

Mason Benning

James with Mason Benning and Cody Bricker meeting James Develin.

As the 2021-2022 school year comes to a close one our very own senior staff members, James Oke; opinion and politics editor, will be set sail from The Cub,  leaving some big shoes to fill.

Outside of school James does a lot of community service including food shelters. Last year James joined journalism and advanced writing classes after deciding he wanted to major in journalism. Mrs. Kraus had taken a liking to his articles and started publishing them quickly just after his first year. This had led him to join The Cub for his first time during his senior year.

Since then he has decided to take a different path with his future but still wants to include his journalism skills from high school. Next year James will be attending Arizona State University and majoring in international business data analytics. With his degree he can still implement journalism by writing more of the business side.

When asked where he sees himself in ten years James said “In ten years I see myself being a management analyst who also contributes to a newspaper.”

“I’m gonna miss my friends, writing, and meeting new people in the grades below me; see that they can with their articles;” and we will miss you too! The Cub wishes James the best of luck for what’s to come and we’re all very excited to see the amazing things he will accomplish.
