On September 8, 2022, at 11:30 AM Queen Elizabeth II died at age 96 in Balmoral Castle, Scotland. Queen Elizabeth was the longest-reigning monarch leader in British history. She reigned as Queen of the United Kingdom for 70 years.
Queen Elizabeth II was born in 1926 on April 21, to Queen Elizabeth (Queens Mother) and King George IV. Elizabeth II was born into royalty as Princess Elizabeth of York.
Elizabeth II’s father passed in 1952 which began her long-standing reign as Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom. During her reign, Elizabeth II has seen many historical events such as World War II, the Korean War, and the Cold War as just a handful of events. Although she wasn’t Queen during World War II, she played a major role as Princess in the Battle of Britain.
In the past decade, Elizabeth II has accomplished many remarkable things such as The Crown Act in 2013 which states that secession would be disassociated from gender for equal opportunity in her country. An example would be Elizabeth II’s great-granddaughter Princess Charlotte is closer to the royal line than her younger brother Prince Louis.
The UK will be mourning of the Queen’s death for at least 10 days. Each day will have a different purpose, and on day one the Queen’s body will be transported on a train at night back to Buckingham palace. Flags will then be placed at the half staff if they are on official buildings, the flags in Parliament square will have black crepe and tassels on them. On day two the flags will return to full staff after the royal band plays the first verse of the national anthem. The rest of the ten days will be a time for funeral and viewing procedures for the Royal family, and later on the day, seven world leaders will do the same.
Schools and offices will remain open throughout the 10 days of morning, except that a national holiday will be observed on the day of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.

King Charles III, Queen Elizabeth II’s oldest son, has now gained the title of King and is called King Charles III.
