
Over the summer break, many albums were released by various artists. Artists including Tyler, The Creator, Deftones, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Quadeca, Addison Rae, and more.
In June, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard released their twenty-seventh studio album, Phantom Island, on June 13th, 2025. King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard is a psychedelic rock band from Australia. Phantom Island features no singles.
Phantom Island is about someone who sees an island in their dreams and decides to travel there. They believe that their journey could be their destiny, however they also believe they’re losing their sanity as they embark towards the imagined destination, hearing laughter in the trees and hyper-analyzing the world around them. They seem to find the island they were seeking after twelve years of searching but their paranoia gets the best of them as they envision mythological gods and creatures watching over the land, leading the explorer to retreat.
Also in June, Addison Rae released her debut album, Addison. Addison Rae is an American pop artist who has released multiple singles before her debut album. This album has a total length of 33:24 and includes the tracks, High Fashion, Headphones On, and Fame is a Gun.
July was a big month for artists releasing albums. Tyler, The Creator, Quadeca, and Travis Scott all released albums in July. Tyler, The Creator American rapper and singer, released his ninth studio album, Don’t Tap The Glass, on July 21st, 2025. Tyler, The Creator is an American hip-hop artist and has achieved fame in various music communities, including the hip-hop and rap communities. Don’t Tap The Glass has an album runtime of 28:30 and includes the tracks Big Poe, Don’t Tap That Glass/Tweakin’, Don’t You Worry and Tell Me What It Is.

Quadeca, an underground American singer-songwriter and rapper, Released his highly anticipated album, “Vanisher, Horizon Scraper,” on July 25th, 2025 with a runtime of 1 hour and 9 minutes and a track list including the singles Godstained, Monday, and Forgone.
Finally in July Travis Scott, American rapper and singer-songwriter, released an album with Jackboys, named Jackboys 2. Travis Scott is an American rapper and has also achieved fame in multiple communities for his previous albums including Astroworld and Utopia. This album has a runtime of 58:50 and had the singles Shyne and Champain & Vacay.
August brought a lot of albums by multiple artists. Artists including Wisp, Deftones, and Babymetal. Wisp recently released their debut album, If Not Winter. Wisp is an American musician who mainly plays shoegaze and had the song Your Face get popular on the app TikTok in 2023. Their new album If Not Winter was released on August 1st, 2025. The album has a runtime of 38:13 and featured no singles.
Deftones released their album, private music, on August 22nd, 2025. Deftones are an American nu-metal and shoegaze band. Their genre is also known as “nugaze”. This was their first album after five years. This album has a runtime of 42:29 and featured the singles My Mind Is A Mountain and Milk of the Madonna.
Carter Kenny, a Senior at BASH, said, “As a newer fan of Deftones, this album being my first new release experience with the band I found private music very enjoyable. My standout tracks being the album’s lead single, my mind is a mountain, and the closing track, departing the body, with Chino’s vocals in particular being a highlight. I think it’s extremely impressive he’s able to sound so good nearly 30 years into his career as their vocalist.

Babymetal is an all-female Japanese metal group. They achieved their fame by making an appearance on Lil Uzi Vert’s album, “Pink Tape,” released in 2023. The album Metal Forth was released on August 8th, 2025, has a runtime of 35:30, and features tracks, from me to u (featuring Poppy), Sunset Kiss (featuring Polyphia), My Queen (featuring Spritbox), and Metal!! (featuring Tom Morello).
