Planetarium
Following up on discussions in previous meetings about reopening a planetarium within the district, a planetarium expert was brought in to give a breakdown of what would be needed to be done in order to reopen the planetarium. The proposal was an upgrade for the planetarium which would have it go completely digital. The all digital planetarium would allow for the planetarium to cover more diverse topics including those not just related to astronomy. This upgrade could also come with a name change to account for the increased subject variety.
Projects
Several IT projects for the 2025-2026 school yar were given by the director of technology. Two of the projects are centered on replenishing student devices at the middle and high schools. Both of these projects are accounted for within the IT budget. The proposed project, aiming at replenishing Chromebooks, included outright purchasing the chromebooks instead of leasing them as is done with the regular laptops. The purchase of these chromebooks would cost $58,489. The third project involved the improvement of the devices within the school buildings which allow a wireless connection. Half of the cost of this project would come out of federal funding while the district would have to pay the other half.
