BASH Graduation Requirements
For a student to graduate BASH, they must complete their homeroom career portfolio requirements. These include assignments from ninth, tenth, eleventh, and twelfth grade. A student can find the list of requirements on Boyertown’s website, which includes the most up to date information and due dates.
For seniors this year, the big requirement is the senior presentation, which will take place on October 16th. BASH encourages “Students [to] check with their HR Teacher to ensure that all components of their Career Portfolio are complete and uploaded by Friday September 20, 2024, so they have permission to present on October 16th.”
Each student presenting will be graded based off their ability to present ideas fluently, maintaining a professional demeanor, present in the allotted time frame of 8-10 minutes, good grammar, visual aids, an updated resume on smart futures, explaining previous career portfolio requirements, explaining the completed job shadow and how it relates to post high school plans, and summarizing the college essay visit.
Each senior will receive 15 minutes to present in the afternoon, after the half day is over.
Applying for College
College applications for fall 2025 are open! BASH’s counseling department sent out a presentation, that includes further details an outline of a typical senior year, and a college application checklist. Keep checking school emails daily, this is counseling’s primary form of communication.
Things to complete when applying for college include a letter(s) of recommendation, uploading/filling in transcripts, filling out background information about yourself, essay, and an application fee.
October Newsletter
BASH’s counselors sent out a newsletter detailing information on applying to college early action versus early decision. They explain, in the newsletter, that getting “accepted to a college through EA [early action] are not required to attend that school. Students can compare offers from other colleges and usually have until May 1 to decide whether to enroll.” They later explained how that’s different from early decision, saying that “ED [early decision] is a binding commitment!” “If the student is accepted under an Early Decision plan, the student must promptly withdraw the applications submitted to other colleges and universities and make no additional applications to any other university in any country.”
With all this going on, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, especially as students manage this big decision with classes, jobs, and extracurriculars. Remember, BASH’s counselors are here help. Counseling staff, along with information about who they work for and their emails, can be found here.
