Danelo Cavalcante, 34, was on the loose for 14 days before finally being captured this morning.
On August 31, Cavalcante escaped a prison near Philadelphia and has been on the run ever since. He’s been running from county to county and evading authorities for 14 days. He was noted as a dangerous criminal and had a $25,000 bounty of his head. Over his two weeks of running from the police, he has been spotted multiple times in numerous locations.
After he escaped from prison by “crab-walking” up the wall, he was seen the next day in a house not far from the jail. He was then seen on September 2 on a residential surveillance camera near the prison. Two days later, he was seen at Longwood Gardens, a garden several miles from where he first escaped. The next night he was spotted in a creek bed, and the night after that a trail camera showed him around Longwood Gardens. On September 8, there were two sightings within the search perimeter at Longwood Gardens, but the next day he was outside of the perimeter and found by a ring doorbell camera. He also stole a van on the ninth, which was found abandoned the next day. On September 11, he stole a rifle, and was found near Owen J. Roberts high school.
Now, 14 days after escaping the prison, he was finally captured. He was found near Pottstown Pike, outside the perimeter that authorities had set up. Now that he’s finally in custody, everyone can be put at ease knowing that no one will let him escape again.
