Students Show Spirit Homecoming Week

Samantha Rayco was announced Homecoming Queen at Friday’s football game.

Despite the football team losing, this year’s Homecoming week was one of the most spirited in years.

Students saw major changes to the annual homecoming schedule. The Homecoming dance took place the Friday before Homecoming week and the pep rally happened on Monday instead of Friday. In previous years the schedule consisted of the pep rally happening the day of the homecoming football game and the dance happening the next night.

“The reason for this change was so the dance would not happen on the same night as the Boyertown Halloween Parade,” BASH history teacher and student council advisor Mr. Kusinez said at the pep rally.

The rest of homecoming remained the same; the club carnival took place on Wednesday night, the Homecoming football game happened Friday night, and students participated in spirit week:

MONDAY: SCHOOL COLORS

TUESDAY: TACKY TOURIST DAY

WEDNESDAY: DECADES DAY

THURSDAY: GROUFIT DAY

FRIDAY: PINK-OUT DAY

More students than ever seemed to be dressing up according to each day’s theme. The increased spirit was because of teachers giving out extra credit and better by student council, students said. Some also said the seniors promoted it more.

“There were posters around and they were talking about it on BASH-TV news,” Sophomore Emily Goetz said.

There was good participation at the football game, which the Bears lost 12-6 against Norristown.
