Students Excited for Latest Star Wars Release
The latest Star Wars movie, The Last Jedi, was released this week, and many students here are as excited as the rest of the world.
This is the first movie Disney, which owns the Star Wars franchise, has released since Rogue One last year; however, The Last Jedi picks up where The Force Awakens (2015), the first film in the new trilogy, left off. The Last Jedi is the ninth release of a Star Wars movie.
The school has set up a special showing of the new movie at The State Theatre this Friday at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 dollars. Parking is at St. John’s Lutheran Church, and afterwards, there will be a pizza party at the church.
However, a lot of students are going to see it with their families or friends elsewhere.
“I’m probably going to go see it over the weekend with my family and one of my friends. I love Star Wars,” ninth grader Olivia Campbell said.
Several rumors have been going around as to the plot of the new movie. Senior Jena Daddario has a prediction of her own.
“I feel like they’re gonna have Kylo Ren kill Leia, and there’s gonna be a lot of fighting between good and dark,” Daddario said.
Daddario has been a longtime Star Wars fan. “I like the new ones better…for the graphics being good.”
Sophomore Tommy Johnston also is going to see the movie over the weekend.
“I’ve loved the series since I was a kid,” he said. “I kind of like the older ones better, but the Disney ones are still good.”
