I was born in China and came to the United States when I was 4. My freshman year of high school my family opened Great Wall, which is our restaurant. I am fluent in both Chinese and English. My parents know very little English, so sometimes that can be difficult. I’ve faced discrimination before; last week a student made a racial gesture in the hallway. The teachers handled it, but it’s hard to not let it bother me. It’s just ignorant, I don’t understand why people feel the need to go out of their way to do that.
