Though turnout was lighter than last year, last night’s carnival was a fun way to kick off Homecoming and Spirit Week for those who attended.

“The week overall is great,” Sophomore Chris Davis said. “It gives us a chance to show school spirit. The carnival is a good way to advertise the school and to fundraise for our club.”

Sponsored by Student Council, the carnival was revived for the first time in decades last year, giving school clubs a chance to raise money by setting up stands in the East parking lot with games and prizes.

Class Office let guests pie officers in the face, the Technology Student Association (TSA) had balloon darts and grilled food, while BASH-TV provided the music and baked fresh cookies in a portable oven.

“A lot of people showed up this year and there are a lot of activities,” Junior Marielle Bozzini said.

The turnout for this year, however, was not as big as last year’s event, which was the 50th anniversary of Homecoming.

“It seemed like there were less clubs,” Junior Logan Cwikla said.

Despite this, students and staff had a good time, and were excited about Spirit Week’s impact on the school.

“The week gives us something to look forward to. It takes away stress from the school week and gives us a light atmosphere,” Senior Leeann Triplicata said.
