BASH Seniors Earn Athletic Scholarships

BASH Seniors Earn Athletic Scholarships

The fall and winter seasons are an exciting time for seniors. They’ve applied to colleges and are waiting to receive their acceptance letters. While some seniors are contemplating where to spend the next four years of their lives,  some student athletes have signed their letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the next level.  According to Athletics Department Secretary Mrs. Karen Girton, ten seniors at Boyertown Senior High have committed to colleges for sports.

SCHOOL: East Stroudsburg University

ACCOLADES: 2nd Team All PAC-10, 3rd team All-Area in 2014-15 for Pottstown Mercury

Q: Describe the road to receiving your athletic scholarship.

A: “The process to receive a scholarship was a long and fun one. I played on an AAU team in the summer that got me a lot of college coaches interested, and then I did a couple unofficial and official visits.”

Q: What made you choose your school? (Did you look more at the school’s academic or athletic program?)

A: “What made me choose the school was how well I connected with the coach, as well as the good physical therapy program. I chose the school because it was one of the few with a PT program as well as a good basketball team.”

Q: Were there other schools that you considered, or was East Stroudsburg University your first choice college?

A:  “Other schools that were in the mix were West Chester, Binghamton, DeSales, and Muhlenberg.”

Q: Do you see yourself staying in sports beyond college and in what way?

A: “I do not see myself playing outside of college, however my job as a physical therapist will allow me to work around athletes for the rest of my life.”
